Tile problems we fix
- Cracked or chipped floor and wall tiles
- Loose or hollow-sounding tiles
- Missing, cracked or stained grout
- Failed caulk at tubs, showers and corners
- Leaking, cracked or soft shower floors
- Tile damaged after a plumbing leak or repair
Matching what you have
The hardest part of tile repair is matching. If you have leftover tiles from the original job, that's the best case. If not, we look for the closest match available and tell you honestly how close it will be before we start. When a good match isn't possible, the better answer is sometimes to redo a whole section, like one shower wall or a room up to a doorway, so the repair doesn't stand out.
When it's more than one cracked tile
A crack can be just a damaged tile, or it can be a sign of movement in the slab or a tile set without enough thinset underneath. Loose tile in a shower often means water is getting behind it. We pull the damaged tile, look at what's underneath and explain what we find before going further.
If a shower floor is leaking, new grout won't fix it. The lasting repair is a new pan, a waterproofing membrane and a floor sloped properly to the drain, finished in tile or pebble stone. If the whole shower is past saving, we can build a new custom tile shower.
Regrouting and caulking
Old grout that's stained, cracked or missing lets water in. We remove it, regrout, replace failed caulk where walls meet tubs, floors and corners, and seal the grout where it calls for it. Not sure whether you need a repair or a remodel? Call and describe the problem, and we'll tell you honestly which it sounds like. For a floor that needs more than spot repairs, see flooring installation, or look through the project gallery.
